Pass Holders Face Higher Prices At Disneyland, California Adventure Parks
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com/AP) — The happiest place on Earth is now more expensive here in Southern California.
Disney has raised pricing for annual pass holders to its Disneyland and California Adventure parks.
On Monday, Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown explained the new selection of passes aims to meet the needs of all park visitors.
"In addition to our continued investment in the guest experience and the expansion of our parks, our new selection of annual passes will help us manage strong demand while providing more choices for guests to select the pass that best meets their needs," Brown said.
An anytime pass, which used to cost $779, now costs $1,049. That pass comes with free parking and unlimited downloads of park photos.
The anytime-anywhere pass, good any day at parks in Anaheim, California, and Florida, rose 31 percent to $1,439.
Parking went up $1 to $18, but the single-day admission price of $99 remained the same.
"We continue to evolve the way we think about managing demand, particularly during our busiest seasons, in order to deliver a world-class experience for our guests," added Brown. "In addition to continuing to expand, we are also exploring pricing options that could help spread out visitation throughout the year."
Meanwhile, majority of pass holders expressed outrage in response to the annual pass price hike announcement.
"I am so mad to hear that they're doing that," remarked Disneyland visitor Laurie Pergler. "What Walt Disney wanted was for kids to come."
According to Disney, the move is meant to prevent overcrowding.
