Car Torn In Half In Violent Pasadena Crash

PASADENA (CBSLA) — Two Pasadena women have been taken to a hospital Monday after a violent crash that tore a car in half.

The crash happened at about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue in Pasadena. The violent collision left the remains of what appeared to be a Honda Civic up against Amigo's Restaurant and Cantina.

Police say a black 2015 Dodge Charger being driven by a 26-year-old woman crashed into a green 1995 Honda Civic being driven by a 43-year-old woman. Their preliminary investigation suggests the Dodge Charger was going speeding south on Wilson when the driver ran a red light, then crashed into the Honda Civic, which had been driving west on Colorado.

The Charger then hit a wooden pool on the west side of Wilson, south of Colorado, and came to rest on the east side of the street, just north of Green Street.

Both women were taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, and the driver of the Dodge Charge is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, Pasadena police said. She is not being identified at this time.

The intersection was closed for several hours after the crash.
