Parolee Arrested For Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting 11-Year-Old Runaway
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 34-year-old parolee allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old runaway girl in Riverside.
Erik Dean Boettcher was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sodomy of a minor, lewd acts on a child, among other things.
Last Thursday, police said the alleged victim ran away from home. A short time later, a man, who was later identified as Boettcher, asked the girl if she wanted a ride in his gray pickup.
The victim complied, said Riverside police Lt. Victor Williams.
"The suspect subsequently took the juvenile to an uninhabited area and sexually assaulted her," Williams alleged. "The victim was then driven around the Riverside area and eventually taken to a motel in Corona, where she was given drugs and sexually assaulted."
The suspect then reportedly drove the girl to a Riverside parking lot on Saturday. She got out of the vehicle and went to the police station to report what happened, Williams said.
An investigation by the police department's Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit revealed that Boettcher was the suspect in question.
Boettcher, who has prior felony convictions for grand theft, stalking and illegal possession of a controlled substance, was taken into custody without incident in Jurupa Valley.
Anyone with information on the allegations was urged to call Det. Rita Cobb at (951) 353-7120 or Det. Laura Ellefson at (951) 353-7126.
