Parody On YouTube Mocks LA's Broken Sidewalks With The Song 'Happy'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Clap along if you've tripped on an LA sidewalk!

LA's Mayor, Eric Garcetti, is no fan of our many broken sidewalks.

He is among thousands, however, who are a fan of a new parody on YouTube showing a variety of citizens (actually dancers) tripping and falling on sidewalks.

On Twitter, the mayor tweeted :

The video's producer (creator and editor) Honora Talbott spoke to KCAL9's Greg Mills about the project.

It opens by mentioning that "Pharell Williams' 'Happy' video was shot in Los Angeles ... which has 4,600 miles of broken sidewalks."

She elicited dancer friends to stage the funny pratfalls -- she even takes part.

"LA sidewalks are notoriously really cracked and really damaged and I just thought, that would be hilarious. And timely," said Talbott about her inspiration.

Despite the political nature of the video, Talbott said no politicians were harmed in the making of the video.

She shot it last Sunday and had it up on YouTube by Tuesday.

The fact that Garcetti is a fan of the video, did get the filmmaker to smile.

"I thought," said Talbott of her big fan, "what a cool guy."

Most of the video was shot in Los Feliz.
