Oxnard Man Arrested In Alleged Attempt To Murder Ex-Girlfriend
VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Police Monday announced the arrest of a 26-year-old man who allegedly tried to fatally stab his former girlfriend.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on March 25, a couple drove north on State Route 33 near Casitas Vista Road and Foster Park where they located an injured female near the roadway, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
When the couple turned around to help the victim, they learned she had been stabbed multiple times.
Paramedics transported the woman to Ventura County Medical Center for serious stab wounds to her face, neck and body.
At this time, she remains hospitalized in stable condition, officials said.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim had been stabbed repeatedly by her ex-boyfriend, who was later identified as Edward Quintero Becerra, of Oxnard.
Deputies explained Becerra fled in the victim's truck with their 2-year-old child following the alleged stabbing.
An Amber Alert was then issued, which subsequently led officials to arrest Becerra without incident at his home on suspicion of attempted murder. The child was located unharmed.
Becerra is being held on $1 million at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
