Orange County teacher arrested for allegedly fathering child with former student

CBS News Los Angeles

Police are actively investigating an Orange County teacher who has been accused of fathering a child with one of his former students.

In a statement, Anaheim Police Department detectives revealed that they were approached by a female adult in late August, who told them that she "had an intimate relationship with one of her teachers" when she was a student at Loara High School in the late 1980s.

Investigators began to look into the claims and were able to also locate a second female adult who they say had an intimate relationship with the same teacher, and that they had one child together.

"Both victims were minors at the time of these incidents," the APD statement said.

Police identified the teacher as Mr. Steve Graves, who is now 61 years old. He remains employed with the Anaheim Union High School District and has been contacted by detectives, the statement noted.

"As of August 29, 2024, the school district placed Mr. Graves on administrative leave," police said.

Graves was previously employed as a teacher at Loara High School, Ball Junior High School and Lexington Junior High School.

Investigators ask anyone who may have more information on the case or who feels like they were also victimized by Graves to contact them at (714) 765-1623.
