Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Shoots Man With Knife In Unincorporated Anaheim
ANAHEIM (CBSLA) — An Orange County deputy shot a suspect armed with a knife in unincorporated Anaheim early Tuesday morning, the Orange County Sheriff's officials said.
According to the department, deputies were responding to a disturbance call at about 2:15 a.m. near the 9000 block of Ball Road. A man with a knife was reported to be fighting with family members.
When deputies arrived and found the fight had spilled outside the apartment at the Hampton Circle Complex, a deputy-involved shooting occurred, according to Orange County sheriff's officials. Authorities did not say what led up to the shooting.
The man, who is in his 20s, was struck at least once in the groin. He was taken to the hospital and is undergoing surgery. No deputies were injured.
Investigators say deputies have responded to the location at least twice before for domestic disturbance calls.
A Sigalert was issued for Ball Road in both directions from south Roanne Street to Yardley Street and Gilbert Street, south of Ball Road, to Guinida Lane, during the investigation.
The shooting will be investigated by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
