Only On 2: Canine Search Team Looking For Stroke Victim's Missing Service Dog
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Neighbors, friends and strangers have stepped up the hunt for a missing man's service dog.
It's a story that is Only On 2.
CBS2's Brittney Hopper said dogs have joined in the search to find Zeus. He's no ordinary house pet.
This husky is a therapy dog that helps David Guindon, a disabled stroke victim in San Bernardino.
A home health care worker accidentally left a door unlocked and the dog escaped last week.. The devastated owner is desperate to get his dog back and is offering a reward.
The stoke left Guindon in a wheelchair. He counts on Zeus for all kinds of things...like retrieving objects and opening doors. He turns lights on and off. More importantly, Zeus is also his best friend.
"It's been really difficult," he said, choking back tears. "Once you lose something, you realize how important it was to you."
Neighbors have put up signs hoping someone can lead to them Zeus.
Today, a pet detective and her canine joined in the search.
"Why were working so hard today to get Zeus back," said Annalisa Berns, "is because of that amazhin human and animal bond. the relationship between Dave and his companion Zeus."
The dog was wearing a collar, but the phone number is an old number. Zeus also has a pink mark on his black nose, and he's got two stripes down his face between the eyes.
He is also micro-chipped.
