One person airlifted to hospital after violent two-car crash on PCH in Malibu

At least one person hospitalized after violent two-car crash on PCH in Malibu

One person was airlifted to the hospital after a violent two-car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Thursday. 

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on westbound lanes of PCH near Latigo Shore, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

Crews arrived and found that two cars had collided on the road, causing both to veer into the hillside. 

One of the drivers had to be freed from within their car after it suffered considerable damage in the collision. 

Paramedics rushed one of the drivers to a place near Pepperdine University where a LACoFD helicopter was waiting to airlift them to a nearby hospital. 

Their condition was not immediately known. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
