Police arrest man who allegedly fired gun shots near Hollywood Farmers' Market

Suspect in custody after shots fired in Hollywood

Officials responded on Sunday to a disturbance near the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood after a man started throwing objects out of his apartment building.

The incident was unfolding near the 1600 block of Cosmo Street, according to the LAPD.

It all happened just as the Hollywood Farmers Market got underway Sunday morning.

"Suddenly around 7:25, 7:30 we heard several rounds of gunfire and then we called police," Ron Taylor, a vendor at the market, said.

A man, perched in his apartment at the Cosmo Lofts along Cosmo Street, pitched all kinds of stuff out the 3rd floor window of the apartment building.

Witnesses said they heard gun shots fired but police did not confirm to CBSLA Reporter Tena Ezzeddine that the suspect fired at them. A gun however was seized from the man's home.

Police told vendors, before they fired tear gas, that they're familiar with the man--who they believe is a former member of the military.

The man's identity has not been released but he was taken into custody.
