Officials Recover Stolen $200K Race Car, Other High-End Vehicles
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say at least four suspects were arrested in connection with the theft of several high-end vehicles, including a $200,000 Dodge Challenger Super Bird.
The pricey race car, which was stolen from a repair facility last Sunday, was partially striped, San Bernardino police said in a department statement.
"The interior sum of it had been striped from the vehicle. It looked like it was in the process of being disassembled," Lieutenant Paul Shafer told KNX 1070's Megan Goldsby.
That vehicle was recovered in Rialto after authorities executed a search warrant, according to the statement. A subsequent search warrant, also executed in Rialto, then led authorities to recover two high-end BMW race cars.
Prior to the Rialto search warrants, however, authorities said they'd served search warrants in Moreno Valley and Apple Valley.
In Moreno Valley, authorities ended up arresting a man in connection with the theft of some stolen property, the lieutenant said.
In total, three stolen high-end race cars and two car hauler trailers were recovered. The identity of those involved was not released.
