Officials ID Man's Body Found In Northridge Middle School Fire

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Officials have identified a man whose body was found earlier this month at the scene of a fire at a school in Northridge.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said the victim was William Bret Steele. He was 49 years old and possibly homeless, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Coroner officials haven't yet established a cause of death.

Steele was found after crews put out the blaze around 6:45 a.m. Oct. 6 at Nobel Charter Middle School, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman said.

His body was discovered within a grouping of trees on the south side of the campus.
