Suspect Dead, Another Arrested In Officer-Involved Shooting Near OC Car Wash

SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — Police fatally shot one suspect and took another into custody Thursday at a Santa Ana car wash.

The shooting was reported around 3:30 p.m. at First Street and Cypress Avenue near the Santa Ana Express Car Wash, officials said.

A male suspect was shot and wounded and later declared dead at an area hospital.

No officers were injured, according to Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Officials said the car wash was very busy. Fortunately, no customers were hurt, police said.

The suspect -- believed to be involved in a murder last week -- was later pronounced dead.

It was unclear if the suspects were armed or if any shots were fired at officers.

According to police, the silver sedan involved in the shooting was being sought in connection with a carjacking and fatal shooting at a Shell station in Santa Ana on Aug. 14.

The victim in that shooting was a man in his 30s, police said.
