Search Continues For Sexual Assault Suspect In Northridge
NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A Northridge community remained on alert Wednesday after learning of a sexual assault suspect who dragged an elderly woman out of her home.
Around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 2, the suspect entered a home located within the Sherwood Forest community and proceeded to drag an elderly homeowner into the backyard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect then attempted to sexually assault the woman before he fled from the area.
According to police, the victim did receive treatment for physical injuries, but she is expected to survive.
"She is a very strong woman," said Det. Stefanie Diaz. "We are grateful for her strength. She's continuing to endure the challenges that come from experiencing this type of event."
Detectives described the suspect as an African American man who is believed to be between the ages of 30 to 40-years-old, stands 5-foot-8 tall and weighs around 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a black shirt, black pants and black shoes.
On Tuesday, police released a composite sketch of the suspect.
At this time, it remains unclear if the suspect is linked to other sexual assaults.
Detectives urged to the public to keep doors and windows locked during all hours of the day.
The investigation is ongoing.
