North Hills Man Charged With Murdering Roommate
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 58-year-old man was charged Wednesday with the murder of his female roommate.
Mario Rene Villalobos, of North Hills, has been charged with murdering 48-year-old Cassandra Silagyi.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the body of Silagyi was located inside of an apartment closet in the 8700 block of Sepulveda Boulevard on Monday.
Officers explained they received a call from a citizen who reported that someone was trying to dispose of a body, which subsequently led detectives to the body.
A preliminary investigation revealed Villalobos and Silagyi shared the apartment for about one month. At the time of the incident, Villalobos was trying to evict Silagyi, which caused several arguments and led to her death.
If convicted, Villalobos faces 25 years to life in state prison. He is being held on $1 million.
