Headphones-Wearing Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Amtrak Train In NoHo
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man who was hospitalized Wednesday after he was struck by an Amtrak train in North Hollywood has died, authorities said.
Paramedics were sent to the 12900 block of Raymer Street near Coldwater Canyon about 9:40 a.m. after a report of a man in his 20s walking near the railroad tracks, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Investigators do not believe the incident was a suicide because the victim was "very near" the track and wearing headphones when he was struck by the train from behind, police said.
He was pronounced dead sometime before noon, authorities said.
There were no injuries on Amtrak train 763, which was headed westbound when it struck the man, he said.
Tracks were closed between Van Nuys and Burbank Airport stations while investigators were on scene.
