Missing Mom 1 Of 2 People Found Dead At Newport Beach Home
NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA) — Authorities say a mom who was reported missing was among two people found dead at a home in Newport Beach.
Coroner's officials told CBSLA Wendi Miller, 48, and 38-year-old Darren Patch were the two victims found about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the area of Irvine Avenue and 15th Street, near Newport Harbor High School.
The male caller told dispatchers he had found the bodies of his roommate and a woman he didn't know.
The roommate told police he didn't see any signs of forced entry. Investigators say they don't believe there is any ongoing threat to public safety, but neighbors say they are still uneasy.
"This is a very, very safe neighborhood, nothing like this ever, ever, ever happens," resident Debbie Moore-Miller said.
Miller's family and friends showed up at the crime scene, but were unable to get information about whether the woman found dead was their loved one until coroner's officials confirmed her identity Monday.
Investigators are still searching for clues, but police told CBSLA there was no threat to public safety.
