Neighbors Of Person Of Interest In Attacks On 5 Women Know Little About Him

BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com)  — Buena Park residents who lived on the same block of a person of interest police say may have been responsible for  the vicious attacks of five women know little about the man.

Many people were just surprised to find out he lived near.

"That is scary," said one woman, "my mom lives right across the street."

The woman recalled seeing a heavily tattooed man in his 20s washing his vehicle recently. The man lived in a converted garage in the 6100 block of Robin Way in Buena Park.

The woman said the homeowner had a lot of turnover in terms of who came and went.

"I know that house. They rent to a lot of people. The rooms constantly have people coming, off and on," the woman said.

Garden Grove Police got tipped off by viewers who saw televised surveillance video of the person of interest shopping at a convenience store.

Police are questioning the unidentified man to see if they can tie him to five vicious and unprovoked assaults against women Thursday night in Garden Grove and Anaheim.

One of the victims -- a woman who came home and surprised an intruder in her house -- was stabbed three times. She is expected to make a full recovery. The other four victims were beaten badly -- at least one woman, a teen coming home from her job at a nearby McDonald's, reportedly had teeth knocked out.

The person being questioned is a parolee and known gang member, said police.

In Spanish, the homeowner told CBS2's Art Barron that she saw police arrest her tenant.

Police said the man was living with his grandmother at the time of his arrest.

The woman insisted the man is not related to her and that he had only been living in her converted garage  for a week.
