Mountain lion spotted swimming across lake in Mission Viejo in unusual sighting

A mountain lion was spotted Saturday swimming in a lake in Mission Viejo.

The mountain lion was hanging around Margarite and Alicia parkways, then started swimming across the lake toward the Mallorca condominium community.

Animal experts say mountain lions don't like to swim and only do it when necessary.

Those in the area are being urged to be aware of their surroundings.
