Mother, Teen Son Found Murdered In Valley Glen Apartment
VALLEY GLEN (CBSLA) – A woman and her teen son were found murdered in a Valley Glen apartment late Wednesday night.
At about 11:50 p.m., Los Angeles police responded to an apartment complex at 13843 Oxnard St. after a man called 911 to report he had just come home to find the bodies of his 40-year-old wife and 13-year-old son. No names were released.
The mother and son were likely targeted, police said, and both suffered some kind of deadly trauma. Investigators do not believe this is a murder-suicide. There was no immediate word on the exact causes of death.
Neighbors who spoke to CBS2 said they did not hear anything out of the ordinary Wednesday night.
Police told CBS2 they are investigating the case as a double-homicide. The victims' father and husband is cooperating with detectives, police said. Police were tight-lipped regarding whether he was a suspect in the case.
Officers guarded the apartment overnight Wednesday as they waited for a search warrant. Police had established a mobile command post and were still on scene as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
