Montebello Man Booked For Murder, Kidnapping
MONTEBELLO (CBSLA.com) — A 43-year-old Montebello man being on $1 million bail Friday for the murder of his wife and kidnapping of his children.
The California Highway Patrol took Daniel Perez into custody Thursday in San Diego County after he allegedly abducted his four sons.
Perez had also been named a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife, Erica.
The entire family was reported missing Tuesday from their Montebello home. The family's vehicle was located the next day and a body of a woman was discovered in the trunk.
An Amber Alert was issued, and Perez was tracked down Thursday morning in San Diego County.
After a brief pursuit and standoff, Perez was taken into custody for child endangerment and kidnapping.
His four sons, ranging in age from 6 to 11 years old, were taken into protective custody and were later reunited with family members. Police say they were unharmed and in good condition.
On Thursday night, the body found found in the trunk was identified as that of 39-year-old Erica Perez.
Perez was booked for murder and kidnapping and will be arraigned on Dec. 15.
