Monrovia Man Arrested In Sex Assault Spree
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – A Monrovia man was arrested last month in connection with multiple sexual assaults that occurred across several Los Angeles neighborhoods, authorities said.
Jason Chung Chien Yu, 41, was taken into custody May 24 in connection with six sex assault cases that occurred between 2012 and 2017 in El Monte, Lynwood, Monterey Park and Temple City, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
LAPD Lt. Todd Deeds said the victims were lured into a dark colored sedan with the promise of money or drugs.
"He targets women on major thoroughfares," Deeds said.
The victims were then driven to motels, where they were sexually assaulted.
"He targets women who are drug users," Deeds told reporters. "He meets them on the street, he lures them into his vehicle by offering them money and drugs. He then holds them captive and takes them to a different location and sexually assaults them."
He faces several felony counts including forcible sodomy and kidnapping to commit a sexual assault. He is being held on $1.37 million bail.
Authorities believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information on Yu to call police at 877-710-LASD.
