Missing Hiker Found Dead In Westlake Village Ravine

WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CBSLA.com) — The body of a 65-year-old hiker who went missing last week was found Friday evening in a ravine in the Westlake Village area.

Clyde Miller of Newbury Park was last seen at 8:30 a.m. on June 17 in Thousand Oaks. His 2007 silver-colored Ford Mustang was found Thursday at the Pentachaeta trailhead in the area of Triunfo Canyon and Lindero Canyon roads in Thousand Oaks, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The trailhead is located in the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.

Following the discovery of his car, VCSO lead a multiagency search for Miller in the surrounding area that included volunteers, helicopters, mounted horse units and drones. At about 5:30 p.m. Friday, a sheriff's helicopter located Miller's body in a ravine along the Pentachaeta Trail, just inside the Los Angeles County line.

A chopper was used to hoist his body out of the ravine.

There appeared to be no indication of foul play in his death, the sheriff's department said. The L.A. County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy.

Miller was reported missing after not showing up to work. He was as an avid hiker who often frequented trails around Thousand Oaks, the sheriff's office said.
