Missing 4-year-old boy located after being abducted by father

Downtown LA's New Year Eve show still to go on despite rainy forecast

A Long Beach man was arrested Saturday after breaking into a home and abducting his four-year-old son, Zayne.

The abduction led to an Amber Alert from California Highway Patrol, after the boy was taken late Friday evening, at around 11:40 p.m., from the mother's home, located in the 5700 block of Orange Avenue.

"The child is listed as a protected person in a criminal restraining order against the suspect," Long Beach Police Department said in a press release.

The suspect, Stephen Rhodes, 34, broke into the home through a window before snatching Zayne and the woman's vehicle, a black 2018 Chevrolet Impala.

The Amber Alert was canceled at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, after LBPD detectives located Rhodes somewhere in the city of Long Beach.

Zayne has since been reunited with his mother and is said to be unharmed.
