Mets, Blue Jays, Astros Improve Odds To Win 2015 World Series

Don't look now, but Las Vegas might be drinking the New York Mets flavored Kool-Aid. On July 17 Bovada Sportsbook, which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, published their odds for MLB teams to win the 2015 World Series and had the Mets listed at 33/1 win it all. Now, after the trade deadline acquisitions of Yoenis Cespedes, Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson and Tyler Clippard, coupled with a rousing sweep of the then-division leading Washington Nationals, Bovoda has dropped the odds to 14/1 for the Mets to win the World Series. Their odds of winning it all nearly doubled in just two weeks time, the biggest jump of any team since July 17. No pressure, Mets/Mets fans.
The team that made the second biggest leap forward was the Toronto Blue Jays, who snagged ace David Price from the Tigers and also added Troy Tulowitzki and Ben Revere to an already deadly hitting lineup. The Jays went from 25/1 to win the World Series to 10/1, tying them with the Yankees and Nationals for the fourth best odds to win the series come October.
Meanwhile, leading the crowd heading in the opposite direction were the Boston Red Sox, who have been unable to find their groove all season. The Sox moved from 25/1 to 66/1. Following closely behind the Sox were the Texas Rangers, who were seemingly buoyed by the acquisition of Cole Hamels, but moved from 33/1 to 66/1.
Still, Hamels shouldn't take the rise in the odds personally. His former team, the Philadelphia Phillies, are the only team at 1000/1 odds to win it all - and that comes in the midst of a 12-2 record out of the All-Star break too.
Anyway, here are the rest of the teams' odds to win the 2015 World Series.

Even though the odds might not be in some teams' favor, fans shouldn't despair. Just remember, one Cardinals fan took the sportsbooks to the cleaners after betting $250 on the Cards to win the World Series at 999-1 in 2011. So Brewers, Phillies, Rockies and Marlins fans, maybe this year it's your year. (I swear, I'm not laughing.)
Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he’d gladly trade them for just one championship for either of his other three teams.
