Victim Hit By Metrolink Train Line In San Fernando Area Hospitalized In Critical Condition

SAN FERNANDO (CBSLA) — A person was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being struck by a Metrolink train in San Fernando Tuesday night.

According to Metrolink, a train was traveling northbound on the Antelope Valley line 223 headed to Lancaster when it struck a person on the tracks near Brand Boulevard at about 7:15 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what the person was doing on the tracks.

Metrolink AV said 90 passengers were aboard the train which was held at Sun Valley while police conducted an investigation. Service was restored by 9:15 p.m.

The rail route added that impacted customers between Sylmar and Palmdale off train 223 who were traveling Tuesday on the 223 train line could receive reimbursement of up to $50, for use of alternative transit.

This is the second instance of a Metrolink train hitting someone within just a four-day period.

On Oct. 16 in Northridge, Metrolink Ventura County line train 116 struck and killed a person near the 9000 block of Tampa Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., according to Metrolink officials and Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
