Metro offering free rides on Christmas Eve, New Year's Day
Los Angeles Metro is offering free rides on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve as a part of their annual effort to help with safe travel during the holiday season, according to department officials.
The free rides will begin at 4 a.m. on Tuesday and last through 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Christmas Day. Next Tuesday, on Dec. 31, rides from 4 a.m. to 3 a.m. the next day will not have fares. All fare gates will be unlatched and fare boxes and validators will not deduct fares from riders that use TAP cards.
They are also offering extended service on Christmas Eve until 2 a.m. on all rail lines.
Come New Year's Eve, lasting through New Year's Day, rail lines A, B, D and E will operate on 24-hour service. Lines C and K will run until 2 a.m.
Riders are encouraged to receive their free rides on Metro Micro by using the code "Merry24" on Dec. 24 and "Ring25" on Dec. 31.
Additionally, Metro Bike Share will also be free for the first 30 minutes of any ride from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1 and customers can redeem their free ride by selecting "1-Ride" at a kiosk, online or in the Metro app. The offer can be redeemed multiple times throughout the day by using promo code "010125."
With Pasadena's Rose Bowl Parade also expected to start the new year, Metro is increasing A Line service that day. Lines A, C, E and K will run through their usual 10-minute services throughout the day.
