Married Couple Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Whittier
WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said Thursday that homicide detectives are investigating the deaths of a married couple in Whittier as an apparent murder-suicide.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives continue to probe the deaths of a female adult and male adult.
Officials said the bodies were discovered on Thursday around 10:30 am in the 13500 block of Lanning Drive.
Norwalk Station deputies responded to the location to check on the welfare of the residents. Upon their arrival, deputies were met by a close family friend who said she hadn't seen the couple for several days.
The friend supplied deputies with a key to the house, at which time they made entry.
Deputies entered the location and found the husband lying on a bed, with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. A shotgun was recovered near the husband's body. The gunshot wound appears to be self-inflicted.
Deputies located the wife's body inside the location. Officials said she also had a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The wife, who has been identified as the victim, and the husband who has been identified as the suspect, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the victim and suspect were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing.
