Mark Zuckerberg Calls Out Employees For Replacing 'Black Lives Matters' With 'All Lives Matter' On Office Walls
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The founder of Facebook reportedly wants his employees to stop crossing out "black lives matter" messages on the walls of their office and replacing them with the phrase "all lives matter."
In the private message obtained by Gizmodo, Mark Zuckerberg described the reported incidents as "malicious" and also "disrespectful."
The message - which was reportedly posted on a company announcement page exclusively for employees - also stated that "'Black lives matter' doesn't mean other lives don't -- it's simply asking that the black community also achieves the justice they deserve."
"This has been a deeply hurtful and tiresome experience for the black community and really the entire Facebook community, and we are now investigating the current incidents," said Zuckerberg.
Roughly two percent of all U.S. Facebook employees are black, according to the company's internal data.
Zuckerberg used the post to encourage employees to participate in a town hall next month to "educate themselves about what the Black Lives Matter movement is about."
