Man Who Led Detectives To Friend's Body Pleads Innocent To His Murder
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 21-year-old man who led detectives to the body of his childhood friend, who was found shot to death in Angeles National Forest, has pleaded not guilty to murder.
David Aldana entered his plea Monday in the killing of Maximilian Bernal.
Aldana surrendered Feb. 25 to federal officers at a San Diego border crossing.
Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say Aldana then led investigators to Bernal's body in the forest near Sand Canyon. The 22-year-old Newhall resident had sustained a gunshot wound.
Prosecutors say Bernal, a friend of Aldana's since childhood, was shot Feb. 23 or 24. A possible motive was not disclosed.
Aldana was held on $3 million bail and ordered back to court April 1.
