Man Wanted For Stealing More Than $35K Worth Of Electronics From LA County Stores
TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Torrance police are on the hunt for a suspect they say stole more than $35,000 worth of electronics from Best Buy stores around LA County.
The suspect's latest heist was an $800 smartphone from a Best Buy in Torrance, authorities said.
On March 14 about 8:45 p.m., the suspect -- who was with two females -- asked a salesperson for help at the store at 3675 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance
police Sgt. Bob Watt said.
The trio eventually left without buying anything, and the salesperson noticed a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 -- worth about $800 -- was missing, he said.
Watt said the suspect was able to somehow cut and disarm a security cord and also pick the only phone that could be activated. The others were display dummies.
Police described the suspect as a bald Latino in his late 20s with a goatee. The suspect is about 5 feet 10 inches, with a medium build with a fair complexion. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue and white striped polo shirt, police said.
Anyone with more information as to the name or whereabouts of the suspect was asked to call Detective Eric Applegate at (310) 618-5581.
