Man To Stand Trial In Kidnapping, Rape Of Teen

SANTA ANA (AP) — A man has been ordered to stand trial on charges of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl he then lived with for a decade.

An Orange County Superior Court judge made the decision Friday after hearing preliminary evidence against 41-year-old Isidro Garcia, who has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors say Garcia abducted the teenage daughter of a girlfriend in 2004 and whisked her away to a neighboring county, telling her she would be deported if she contacted authorities.

Authorities say Garcia later fathered a daughter with her.

The case came to light last year when the now-grown woman went to a police station to report a domestic violence incident and was connected to a missing-persons report filed by her mother in 2004.
