Suspect shot and killed by LAPD officers in Manchester Square

Police shot and killed a suspect who allegedly opened fire at the officers during a traffic stop in the Manchester Square area early Wednesday.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, three officers conducted a traffic stop near Florence Avenue and Western Aveune for a red light violation around 12:48 a.m.

As they were conducting the stop, a man came around the corner to a nearby parking lot and started shooting. LAPD said it was unclear what or who the man was shooting at, but it appeared to be a business. 

Two officers opened up fire on the suspect, shooting and killing him

The suspect, who was around 25-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the shooting.

After the shooting, police discovered an illegal cannabis dispensary near the scene and detained a group of men and women who were brought back to the police station for questioning.

It is unknown whether the cannabis dispensary was the target of the shooter.

The shooting remains under investigation.
