Man Sentenced To 21 Years To Life For Murder Of Mother
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors say a man was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison for stabbing his mother to death at their Sylmar home in Los Angeles.
Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer says 29-year-old Freddie Sanchez was sentenced Thursday.
He was found guilty on Oct. 1 of one count each of first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Court testimony from relatives indicated 58-year-old Matilde Sanchez was killed on March 25 with a large kitchen knife. Relatives also said Sanchez assaulted his father the night before.
Sanchez also was convicted of misdemeanor disobeying a court order for being within 100 yards of his father.
