Officials Identify Innocent Man Killed In Industry Pursuit

INDUSTRY (CBSLA.com) — Three suspected burglars who fatally struck an innocent man during a high-speed pursuit faced murder charges Wednesday morning.

The deadly crash unfolded just before 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in the intersection of Gale Avenue and Johnson Drive.

The suspects -- Anthony Quisenberry, 35, Michael Smyer, 26, and Charles Archer Allen, 32 -- traveled in a black Chevrolet Camaro and rammed into Rojelio Gonzalez, 66, of Downey, who traveled in an SUV, according to police.

Paramedics pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene. The three suspects were transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the men broke into a Hacienda Heights home Tuesday afternoon and subsequently led deputies on a high-speed chase.

At one point, the Camaro swerved into oncoming traffic and nearly hit a deputy.

Due to the risk to the public, authorities terminated the pursuit by spraying the suspects with pepper spray and a Taser.

According to police, the three men are each being held in lieu of $1 million bail. They were each booked on suspicion of murder, burglary and evading a peace officer while causing major injury or death.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
