CBS News Los Angeles

Police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man in Van Nuys early Sunday morning.

It happened at around 5:35 a.m. in the 16100 block of Leadwell Street near the intersection of Woodley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. It was there that they were dispatched after learning of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired call.

They arrived and found the victim, only identified as a male, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, police said.

Investigators were unable to provide details on a suspect description or motive in the shooting.

Anyone who knows more is urged to contact LAPD detectives at (818) 374-9550.

This is the second shooting to happen in Van Nuys in two days, after two men were found shot in what police believe was a gang-related shooting on Saturday evening.
