Man In Wheelchair Suffers Gunshot To Face At Anaheim Hot-Rod Gathering
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A man in a wheelchair was reportedly shot in the face at a big gathering of car enthusiasts Wednesday night in Anaheim.
Anaheim police said they received a report of shots fired at 10:05 p.m. near Euclid Street and West La Palma Avenue, where people had lined up Hot Rod cars for viewing.
Witnesses said they heard up to five shots and a suspect was seen running from the scene.
Officers arrived to find a man in a wheelchair suffering a gunshot wound to the face.
The victim was conscious and talking to paramedics, who transported him to UC Irvine Medical Center. He's expected to survive.
Meanwhile, police set up a perimeter around the scene but have not yet apprehended a suspect.
The suspect was a man in his 20s wearing shorts and a blue hooded sweatshirt, Sgt. R. Blackburn said.
