Gang Member Dies Following Downey Shooting

DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A known gang member died Tuesday after he was shot in Downey.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 11600 block of Bellflower Boulevard.

Authorities said Wayne Patrick Cooper, 36, was sitting in an SUV outside an apartment complex when he was shot multiple times.

Cooper, of Downey, died at a hospital about an hour later, officials said.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related.

Two suspects were later booked for murder, but their names were not immediately released.
