Road rage suspect hospitalized after being shot by police in Hacienda Heights

A road rage suspect was hospitalized after being shot by police in Hacienda Heights on Saturday.

Huntington Park Police Department officers were dispatched to the 15400 block of Garo Street at around 4 p.m., according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who were assisting HPD with the investigation.

The incident started as a road rage call a little before 3 p.m., when officers were called to the 6500 block of Miles Avenue. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the man fled, prompting them to engage in pursuit.

They followed him along surface streets and freeways until the chase ended on Garo Street, where the shooting occurred.

Police reported that the suspect rammed the police cars with his own vehicle multiple times, which led to them opening fire. He was struck in the upper body.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was said to be in critical condition. He was not yet been identified.

No deputies or officers were injured in the incident.
