Man Fatally Shot, Daughter Wounded In San Bernardino Apartment

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday were investigating the murder of a 45-year-old man and the shooting of his teenage daughter at their Inland Empire apartment.

The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of N. Copper Lane in San Bernardino, authorities said.

According to police, an unknown black man in his 20s knocked on the front door and began firing his gun once it was opened by the victim, Phillip Andre Jacobs Sr.

Jacobs was shot multiple times and was found dead in the doorway of his second-floor apartment.

His 18-year-old daughter was also wounded and transported to a local hospital in good condition.

"Both victims had sustained at least one gunshot to the upper torso," Lt. Rich Lawhead said.

The suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot.

"This appears to be a gang related shooting," Lt. Lawhead added.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Michele Mahan at (909) 384-5619 or Sergeant Gary Robertson at (909) 841-5361.
