Man, Dog Embark On Cross-Country Bike Ride To Raise Awareness For Rescue Shelters
VENICE (CBSLA.com) — A man is pedaling his beloved rescue dog across the nation to inspire others to also adopt from shelters.
Mike Minnick and his dog "Bixby," who are currently in Hermosa Beach, are setting off to San Diego after spending a couple of days in the South Bay.
The duo already have covered 31 states and have clocked in more than 9,000 miles in order to raise awareness and support animal rescue shelters.
"She's from a shelter in Austin, Texas. So she's a rescue dog and a mixed breed, and just as loyal and awesome as they come," Minnick said. "There are millions of 'Bixbys' in shelters all across the country. So we decided to lend a paw and see if we could help find the right humans for puppies all across the country."
Minnick said he typically finds overnight hospitality from people along the way.
