Man Dead, Woman Wounded In Attack At Arco Gas Station In San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — The San Bernardino Police Department says one person was killed and another wounded Sunday after they were attacked at a Arco gas station.
Officials responded to a shots fired call in the 180 block of W. Highland around 11:30 a.m.
Upon their arrival they located a silver Honda Civic crashed along some steal posts along the west side of the business parking lot.
A 33-year-old male had fallen out the open driver's door and was pinned between one of the posts and the car. A woman, 30, was standing outside the vehicle.
Originally, authorities thought they were investigating a possible carjacking. The investigators learned that the suspects knew the male and called to him by his street name.
The victims got back into their vehicle when they saw the suspects approach. Police said the suspects were able to force their way into the vehicle and began to strike the victims.When the man began to back the car out, he fell out and got pinned and crushed.
The man, a 33-year-old San Bernardino resident, died at the scene. The woman, identified as Kimberly Contreras of Simi Valley, was taken to St. Bernadine's Hospital where she was treated for injuries and released. The motive for the incident is unknown at this time.
The suspects, two males, remain at large, police said.
