Man, 25, Gets 6 Years Behind Bars For Leading Police On 710 Freeway Chase

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said Friday that a man has been sentenced to six years in state prison for leading police on a pursuit on the 710 Freeway last month.

The Los Angeles County D.A.'s Office announced that 25-year-old Lajuan Deshaun King pleaded no contest to a felony count of fleeing a pursuing peace officer's motor vehicle causing serious bodily injury in the case.

The defendant also admitted that he was previously convicted of second-degree robbery in 2012.

Deputy D.A. Presciliano Duran  said on May 7 police received a call about a suspected robbery at a restaurant in the 700 block of West Valley Boulevard in Alhambra.

When authorities arrived at the location they spotted a white car leaving the scene and a police pursuit began, the Deputy D.A. said.

The driver of the white vehicle, later identified as King, entered the 710 Freeway and drove south to Long Beach.

After exiting the freeway in Long Beach, King lost control of the car and crashed, the prosecutor said.
