Malibu Canyon Road reopens after rockslide closure

A rock slide in Malibu Canyon on Malibu Canyon Road blocked the roadway south of Piuma Road Wednesday afternoon.

At 7 a.m. Thursday the City of Malibu Emergency Services agency announced all lanes of Malibu Canyon Road through the canyon were reopened after Wednesday's closure due to a rockslide.

Drivers were advised to proceed with caution and to watch out for rocks in the road.

The California Highway Patrol had issued a traffic advisory around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for Malibu Canyon Road North between Pacific Coast Highway and Piuma Road. Traffic was rerouted from the area.

The road was expected to remain closed overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to the CHP.
