Roberts played with the Dodgers from 2002-2004, and had stints with the Indians, Red Sox, Padres and Giants during his 9-year MLB career.
Roberts was most recently the bench coach for the San Diego Padres, but he did manage one game in the interim when the Padres fired Bud Black in the middle of last season.
Roberts was with the Padres for six seasons, starting as a special assistant in baseball operations in 2010, then was first base coach in San Diego for three seasons, then was moved to the bench coach for 2014-15.
