Listing For Glendale 'Party' Home Taken Down After Complaints
GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A rental listing for an approximately 4,000-square-foot Glendale home described as "party central" reportedly has been taken down after several gatherings at the residence were shut down by police.
Neighbors on the 1300 block of Norton Avenue say they've had enough of the recent commotion.
"The one night they had like 200 to 300 people, and they were still coming, and there was five to seven police cars, the helicopter came," said Kathy Sheffrey, who's lived in the neighborhood for 39 years.
The property is being advertised on Airbnb.com, an online service that allows vacationers to rent properties from private parties as an alternative to traditional hotels and other lodging options.
Described as an "entertainer's outdoor paradise," the property includes a Jacuzzi, pool, and an "exclusive estate" that can accommodate up to 200 people for weddings, reunions, or "whatever you can imagine!"
Glendale police say since they've been involved the parties have stopped.
"Unfortunately, they advertise it as a 'party house,' so that ended up attracting individuals that wanted to have parties," Sgt. Thomas Lorenz said.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports since last October, police have responded to at least six separate gatherings after neighbors in the Glenwood community complained of beer bottles in the street, people fighting on the sidewalk in the early-morning hours, limited parking and blaring loud music.
"There's drinking, there are bottles and trash, there's no parking on the street," Sheffrey said.
"Talking, yelling, arguing, sometimes until...4 a.m.," neighbor Andrew Gorgyan said.
Lorenz says the management company responsible for the home took down the "party house" listing and now have the property advertised for normal, short-term stays for as much as $280 per night.
