Liam Neeson Opens Up To '60 Minutes' About Mourning His Late Wife
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actor Liam Neeson opened up to "60 Minutes" about mourning his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson.
He told correspondent Anderson Cooper that grief still overwhelms him.
"Grief is like a three-legged table," he said, "The Earth isn't stable anymore."
It was the first time Neeson has spoken publicly about his wife since her death in 2009. (She hit her head while skiing in Canada. Richardson said she felt fine but died two days later after complaining of a headache.) He told Cooper he visits her grave often and plants her favorite flowers, daffodils and roses. Neeson also said he has been unable to part with her clothing.
Cooper knows something about losing a loved one under tragic circumstances. His older brother, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, committed suicide in July 1988 when he was 23.
The site "60 Minutes Overtime" bills the discussion as "not your usual entertainment interview."
