Pursuit Suspect Killed After Crashing Motorcycle Into SUV In Leimert Park

LEIMERT PARK (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit suspect who crashed his motorcycle into an SUV in Leimert Park has died, police said Friday.

Shortly after 11 p.m., officers observed a motorcyclist driving recklessly at unsafe speeds and popping wheelies, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A short pursuit ensued. As the motorcyclist attempted to evade capture, he ran into an SUV. The crash unfolded in the intersection of Leimert and West Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards.

Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist, an adult man, dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

The intersection remained closed for around five hours, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
