LAX-Bound American Airlines Flight Delayed Because Of 'Disruptive Passenger'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An American Airlines flight headed for Los Angeles International Airport was delayed Friday due to a disruptive passenger, officials said.

American Airlines Flight 139 was scheduled to depart Miami at 12:20 p.m. local time following an argument between two passengers, American Airlines spokeswoman Alexis Coello said.

"American Airlines Flight 139 from MIA to LAX, scheduled to depart at 12:20pm, was delayed because of a disruptive passenger who made a statement that caused concern," Coello said in a statement. "Law enforcement was on scene and detained the disruptive passenger and pulled the passenger's luggage."

A Miami-Dade police spokesperson confirmed there was an argument between two passengers, in which one person said, "I'm not a bomb…I will not blow up."

No arrests were made.

The passengers, including the "disruptive passenger," re-boarded the plane at 2:15 p.m. and the flight departed Miami at 2:42 p.m. The flight is now scheduled to arrive at LAX at 5:47 p.m.
