LAPD shoot knife-wielding woman in Koreatown

A Los Angeles Police Department officer shot a woman suspected of stabbing a man in Koreatown Wednesday night.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for her injuries and is expected to survive. The man was also taken to the hospital with several minor cuts.

The shooting happened around 11:05 p.m. near the intersection of S. Kenmore Avenue and Third Street after police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon. When police arrived to the scene they saw a woman in her 20s attempting to stab a man in his 40s during a fight. 

The relationship between the man and woman is unknown, police said. It is also unknown how the altercation started.

No officers were injured during the shooting.

The area between Kenmore and Third and Fourth streets was closed while police conducted their investigation of the shooting.
